Thank You! Making a Difference for Kids a Huge Success

Members and friends of Voices for Vermont’s Children gathered on Friday evening, June 3rd, at the Burlington Community Boathouse to honor our champions for kids, Senator Bernie Sanders and film director, Bess O’Brien.  A beautiful evening on Lake Champlain and inspired cuisine from Susanna’s Catering contributed to the celebration.

Senator Sanders was recognized for his many contributions to the health and well being of Vermont children and their families with the Vermont KIDS COUNT Award.  This award honors individuals who demonstrate their commitment to children and youth through their work.

Film director, Bess O’Brien, received the David Goldberg Child and Youth Advocacy Award in recognition of her film, Ask Us Who We Are, a documentary focused on the challenges and extraordinary lives of youth in foster care.  The film is a reflection on loss and the search for belonging and finding family.  The Advocacy Award honors Vermonters who are outstanding advocates for children, youth, and families.

Contributions from Making A Difference for Kids support our efforts to protect programs that serve Vermont children and youth. Many wonderful members, friends, and underwriters contributed to the success of the evening. Underwriters include National Life Group, Casey Family Services, Vermont State Employees Credit Union, Ben & Jerry’s Foundation, Green Mountain Power, and BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont.

Our grateful thanks to you all.
