2011 Kids Count Data Book Ranks Vermont 4th in the Nation in Overall Child Health and Well-Being

Vermont ranks fourth nationally in overall child health and well-being in the 2011 KIDS COUNT Data Book, a state-by-state study on the well-being of America’s children.  Vermont ranks in the top 10 on seven of the 10 individual indicators affecting child well-being reported in the Data Book.

Vermont’s success in these national rankings is not luck or magic – it is the result of forward-thinking policies and years of investment in programs and services that support kids and families.  “Our strong showing relative to other states in the nation demonstrates how our public policies and effective support systems are helping Vermont’s families weather this economic storm” said Nicole Mace, Research Director and Senior Policy Advocate of Voices for Vermont’s Children.
