Annual KIDS COUNT Data Book and State Rankings
Every year, the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s KIDS COUNT® project produces an index of child well-being, ranking each state using key indicators of how well children and young people are doing.
There are sixteen indicators that make up this index, four in each of the four domains of Economic Well-being, Education, Health, and Family and Community.
In 2020, the KIDS COUNT Data Book ranked Vermont 5th for overall child well-being.
In specific domains, Vermont ranked:
18th for Economic Well-being
4th for Education
8th for Health
3rd for Family and Community
The Data Book is available for download and data can also be explored in a new interactive.
More details—trends, comparisons, raw data, and visualizations—for these sixteen indicators are also directly accessible on the KIDS COUNT Data Center. Explore by clicking below.
