Birthweight

Babies with low birthweight – under 5.5 pounds – are at risk for respiratory conditions, cognitive and developmental delays, and other long-term health complications.  The Healthy Vermonters 2010 objective was to reduce the percentage of babies born with low birthweight to 5 percent. This goal has yet to be achieved. In 2010, the Vermont average was 6.1 percent.
